블리자드가 홍콩 선수를 제재한 것에 대한 논란은 게이머를 넘어 현지 게임업계, 그리고 미국 정치인까지 관련 이야기를 언급할 정도로 커지고 있다. 가장 직접적인 부분은 블리자드 직원들도 회사의 결정에 반발하고 있다는 것이다. 지난 9일, 블리자드 본사 직원들은 회사를 대표하는 오크 동상 앞에 모여서 홍콩 시위 상징이라 할 수 있는 우산을 들며 시위했다. 처음에는 9명으로 시작됐으나 이후에는 30명까지 참가자 규모가 늘어났다.
